About Leon's EFL Planet
Info about how to advertise on this site (Free and Paid Advertising Available)
Historical Background 1998: This website was first established as a resource for students of English (ESL/EFL). 2000: This website had grown into something for teachers of ESL, too. 2002: I had added a section especially for EXPAT teachers of EFL. 2004: My EFL Expats Page had evolved into an EXPAT page, (for ALL EXPATRIATES around the world). 2006: I decided to specialize my EXPAT Page for U.S. citizens living in foreign lands; However, all expats may benefit from the page. 2008: I had already been teaching Korean and Chinese; So, I decided to expand the focus of this website to include the education of ALL foreign languages; BUT, for the time being the main focus is English, Korean, Chinese, with a little focus on French, Spanish, and German.
It is hoped (by me) that all students & teachers of foreign languages, as well as all expats, may benefit from the information posted on my website. I have yet to make a profit from this endeavor. It is hoped (by me) that someday this website will become profitable, but so far I've only lost money. Donations are always welcome.

Special Features on this Website One might ask, "Isn't this just another ESL/EFL website?" The answer is no. There are certain special features here that cannot be found anywhere else on the web. Here are just some of those features: 1. English Proverbs are explained for EFL/ESL learners. While there are a plethora of websites that give English proverbs, very few explain the meanings in simple terms for EFL/ESL learners. (This is a work in progress, and I hope to add many more proverbs in the future). 2. An in-depth study of English metaphors and metonymy 3. A section for Expats, unlike any other I've ever seen on the net 4. A FREE service to help people find int'l English pen pals / e-pals. 5. Content-based Education The premise of 'content-based education' is that one may learn a foreign language by delving to a a topic of interest through the medium of the target language. 6. Almost everything on this website is free of charge. I don't know why I do this. This is kind of a hobby, I guess, but an expensive one. I hope someday it will pay off. I charge a token fee for taking the CAPE English Level Test: Only $14.00 (US). I charge for my Teaching Overseas Information Packets: $49.95 & $79.95 (US).
"What's so special about BB's?" you ask. Well, not much, except that they are moderated by native English speakers to help non-native English speakers improve their English. As a promotion, the boards are temporarily free of charge.
